  • The word God meant a lot to Nate. Throughout the book God was Nate's inspiration and guide whenever and example of wherever he was.
  • The song "Jesus In Your Eyes" was Nate's wedding song and he carried the lyrics with him. It reminds him of Julie and that she's back at home safe and sound waiting for her love to return to her.
  • The Bible helped Nate throughout the book.He used the psalms in the Bible to give him courage and strength.
  • Nate is a great example of a leader. When he was in battle he always thought of what could be a better benefit for his squad and always tried to come up with the best solution that had the least risk of harming his men.
  • "One Hero's Fight on Two Fronts-Abroad and Within" meant that Nate was dealing with two problems. One was when he was in battle and the other was when he was figuring out himself. It shows how strong-minded Nate is and how he didn't let these two challenges get the best of him.
